Partnership between PlayTracker and Newzoo
We are extremely excited to announce that PlayTracker has entered a strategic partnership with Newzoo, the global leader in PC and console games data.
Newzoo will fund a multiyear development roadmap and share their internal resources to help PlayTracker grow. We will work together to integrate PlayTracker Insight cross-platform analytics with Newzoo's industry standard products and services.
The team working on PlayTracker will double over the coming months. With help from Newzoo's engineers we have started work on a feature roadmap that includes all the things we've wanted to build for years, but never had the resources for. All current aspects of PlayTracker will continue including our affordable Insight analytics, and we will be making some premium features available free for all users.
PlayTracker has attracted lots of interest from outside investors and potential partners over the years, but we chose to partner with Newzoo specifically because they simply get it. They supported our vision from the first meeting, and our strengths compliment one another in a way that will let us both focus on working on the things we are best at.
Since Newzoo is based in the Netherlands, we will continue to work within - and build upon - the EU's strong and respected data protection rules (like the GDPR). Our joint data analysis will produce exclusively aggregated results like “Game X sold more than Game Y” or “25% of action gamers also enjoy tactics games”. It will also be based on pseudonymised data which means it contains no information that directly identifies you.
We’ve updated our privacy notice and terms of service to reflect this partnership, including our much beloved "TLDR" section for easy reading.
Newzoo will acquire a minority stake in the company we founded around PlayTracker, while the existing founders maintain control and continue to run things. I will personally continue to hold a majority of shares and continue to be the "director" - an overly serious title which I will continue to avoid using.
Thank you all so much for your support whether you are a casual user or a hardcore backlog dungeon enthusiast - we appreciate you all. I'm happy to talk in detail about this news, so if you have any questions feel free to reach out.
